A little watercolor and a little Rock n Roll PLUS a shaker!!

Lots going on here, huh?
First a little watercolor for fun,
then a little rock n roll (notice the balloon animal)
and last but NOT least, a shaker in the word "birthday"!
and then I had to add those sparkly stripes to the background to go with the sparkly silver sequins on the front of the card!

stamps:  Avery Elle: Party animal, Impression Obsession: Thin Stripes
dies:  PTI: birthday word, PTI edgers die
ink:  distress for watercolor, PTI: spring rain, blueberry sky (the balloon animal)
misc:  Wow metallic silver sparkle embossing glitter

Seize the Birthday ~ Masculine!!

Seize the Birthday asks for Masculine cards  this time.
I  struggle with these, I guess I just like flowers and pretty things!!
And if you feel the same, you can always go with
"ANYTHING GOES"

Why are guys cards so hard for me?
I kept it pretty simple with the Lawn Fawn Woodgrain Backdrop,
an Impression Obsession sentiment on a PTI fillable frame along with some stars.
The inside is a PTI sentiment from Movers & Shakers
and Fillable Frames # 1
The "you" die is an SSS die.

The topping this time is : MAKE IT MASCULINE!

OR YOU CAN DO "ANYTHING GOES BIRTHDAY!"

More Blending and a Twist on the Rock n Roll technique

The Twist on the Rock n' Roll technique...
stamp off once, then re-ink the edges!
I added orange sequins to the center of the large flowers,
but didn't have the same color for the smaller bursts of color,
so copics to the rescue!

PTI Funky florals, Keep it Simple:  Thinking of You
PTI ink:  terra cota and dark chocolate

I masked off the circle and used distress ink for sponging on the color.  To get movement,  I used smaller butterflies from the bottom left to the top right.
dies:  SSS: with sympathy, WPlus9 small butterfly frame, Lil' Inkers stitched rectangle frames
stamp:  PTI Butterfly Dreams
ink:  Distress: peacock feathers, dusty concord
misc:  pearls

Some ink to paper and some blending with sponge

Darn, I see I didn't do a good job making my sentiment straight! I sponged on some Distress inks, blending as well as I could, I think I am finally getting the hang of it. After I blended, then I die cut it using a Lil' Inkers Stitched oval.
The die cut is a SSS:  Fresh Daisies

This card I swiped the PTI inks across the tag and then stamped a flower from MFT Peaceful Wildflowers, the sentiment from the same set.  The background is PTI Polka Dot Basics II

Card Concept ~ Feel better soon

...and inside it says, "feel better soon"!
This is a rubber stamp and people, I had to go to YOUtube to remember how to use the Stamp a ma jig!  I am so used to the clear stamps, this one threw me for a loop!!
So I did some placement with the stamp a ma jig and some masking and managed to get 5 'suckers' stamped!
I am entering this is The Card Concept where the challenge is a
Get Well Soon kind of card.

thanks for stopping by and taking a look!

stamps:  Deadbeat Designs (sucker and sentiment) both rubber and wood mounted
paper:  PTI harvest gold, simply chartreuse
die:  Bells & boughs (for the bow!)

Merry Monday ~ SANTA

A NBUS stamp from my BFF at Christmas:
A cute Avery Elle stamp set called: North Pole...it has three hats with different words attached, like ho ho ho and jolly...Fun, huh?  My background paper is from PTI tinsel and tags.
I am entering this in the Merry Monday Challenge which is SANTA!

I had a wonderful time in the Santa Clara area this weekend.  I was able to spend it with my older daughter and we watched her older daughter play volleyball at the Santa Clara convention center.
We had time to roam and see some sites.  Friday we went to Santa Cruz, ate on the boardwalk and about 3:30 decided we better get to the rides before we head north to our hotel in Union City.
Well, guess what?  All the rides were closed by then!!  That's okay because we loved the sun and the beach and the walking did us good.
Saturday, Dina and I headed to Sunnyvale to a Crafter's Mercantile which was fun and yes I did a "little" shopping...didn't break the bank though!  Then on Sunday we went to Santana Row in San Jose, we loved the shopping and the restaurants, and especially the weather!
It was a very fun three day weekend...Ellie's team did well, they came in 5th in the 14 and under division.  And Dina and I love spending one on one time with each other!

PTI Anniversary Day 8 ~ BLUE Ombre Challenge

I used some watercolor paper and brushed some reinkers onto the paper using Spring Rain, Blueberry Sky and Enchanted Evening.
I stamped and did some masking of two butterflies from Beautiful Butterflies (I used Spring rain and Blueberry sky). The sentiment is from Wishes Come True.
I added a strip of dark blue metallic paper under the butterfly.
I guess you can tell I am loving Maile's 'style'!

Seize the Birthday~ Arrows or Hearts!

We are getting close to Valentines day...only two days away so we thought it would be fun to make use of arrows or hearts in our birthday card this challenge.
I really hit the jackpot with this card...had this Impression Obsession Heart die that has never been used, and the Heidi Swapp arrow stamp had never been used either!
And this is a SHAKER CARD!!  You get all those fun hearts from this die, although I did add some fun sequins to shake along with the many hearts from the die.
Just so happens my daughter's birthday is Feb 19th, I am thinking that is pretty close to Valentines day, so I think I may use this card for her!
The inside says:  OH HAPPY DAY and that is an Impression Obsession stamp called Love Never Fails.

The topping is HEARTS  and /or ARROWS

I hope you will find time to join us this time, we love being inspired by YOU, too!!
Go to Seize the Birthday to play along!

PTI Anniversary Day 6 "Heavy Metal Challenge"

OOH LA LA, it is all about the gold (or silver!),
I went with the gold!
I gold embossed Ruby Reprise and a few elements from Ruby Rose on vellum paper,
the scroll is die cut and embossed from Boutique Borders: Birthday and the sentiment from Keep It Simple: Birthday!
I added some gold Metallic Thread under the scroll, adds a nice touch I think!
I framed the top and bottom with gold metallic paper that I picked up at Michael's quite awhile ago.

I love how this card turned out!
One more day to play, I leave on Friday for California, I hope I will have time to make something early in the morning before I have to leave for the airport...depends whether I sleep or not!!
I am going to 73 degrees and sunshine!!

PTI Day 5 ~ Spring into Action Challenge

Are you all having fun with these anniversary challenges at Papertrey?  I am loving all of them!
Today's challenge is to use a NBUS or at least one that has not seen much love lately!
Just so happens the freebie from December, Pretty Petals was sitting on my desk, Never Before Used!
I am still loving Maile's style, so went with one of her designs.
The stripes on the sides was made with an Obsession Impression striped full card stamp.
I am NOT very good at lining up stripes, so I went with this stamp instead.
The sentiment is another one that I have not used before, it is from the Mat Stack collection.
I colored in the petals of the flowers with V12 and the leaves with YG05.
Melon berry, terra cotta tile and spring moss were the inks used.
Have a great week everyone!
I am heading to Santa Clara on Friday with my daughter Dina and granddaughter Ellie for a volleyball tournament that will last the holiday weekend.  She will be playing in the Santa Clara convention center.

PTI Anniversary Day 4 ~Build a Bouquet Challenge

I love the Sweet Life roses in a vase for a bouquet, I added some sprigs that came from Larger than Life.  I embossed with white powder, then sponged on a bit of spring moss to make them pop...I was going for a 'baby's breathe' look.  Not sure I accomplished it, but I do like the added texture and depth it gives the bouquet.
The card front was dry embossed with the Deco Die cover Plate.
The sentiment is from Words of Comfort,
the vase has an embellishment that was stamped with versamark and then clear embossed on fine linen paper.  You can go HERE to check out the details for the challenge on Nichole's blog.

PTI Anniversary Day 3 ~ Bagged & Tagged Challenge

I had these bags that are kraft and white striped, I stamped them with the X & O's from Think Big # 11, and the 'hugs' from TB # 23, and cut out the LOVE from Wonderful Words:  Love.  The heart that is glued in place on the bag is from the center of the "O" for the word 'love'.
The tag was made with two of  the "Limitless Layers:  Hearts.  the white one was die cut using the solid heart image for the inside tag, I selectively cut it so that I would have a fold, not cut all the way through.  The outer heart was cut using one of the decorative edged hearts and glued to the white one.
I then stamped the to & from ...from the Bells & Boughs stamp set.

I have six of these ready to go to give to the 6 grandchildren.
I am going to be in California with Ellie who is playing in a volleyball tournament in Santa Clara.
DH, SIL, DD and three other grandchildren are heading to Seattle for a VB tournament for Lily...and of course it is over the Valentines weekend...so I will send (and bring one) for all the little ones to have on that day.

fun project making tags and a bag...love this release from PTI and all the fun challenges to go with the anniversary festivities.

PTI Anniversary Day 2 ~ CASing Maile Belles

Maile always does the unexpected and it is always so unique!
She is the queen of cut-a-way.
I kept mine pretty simple, as she usually does also.
I used Beautiful Butterflies (can hardly wait for her new set!)
in a gradient color scheme...aqua mist, Hawaiian shores and finally tropical teal.
The sentiment is from Little Bitty Birds and as she often does I cut the words into strips and adhered them to the card.
Ended with some Pretty Pink Posh sequins!

PTI 8th Anniversary Festivities ~ Day ONE Sketch and color Challenge

Congratulations on your 8th year, PTI!!
I can hardly wait for each day to come to see what you have cooked up this anniversary!

PTI8-color-inspiration-7
PTI8-sketch-inspiration-6
I used Ruby Rose and Ruby Reprise as well as the PTI Tip Top Dies to make this card.
The word "you" is a SSS die and the sentiment is from PTI Bigger Blooms.
I read that we are only to enter one project which is fine with me, but I am thinking I might take the opportunity to make up a few more cards using the provided sketches!
thanks for taking a look...see you tomorrow!

Online Class Day 6 ~ Masked Stripe Background

The Background stripe is made with Distress Ink: squeezed lemonade.  The flower is a Clearly Besotted stamp that was gold embossed and then watercolored.  I had to 'fussy' cut it!!
The sentiment is from PTI: Happy Hydrangea and those wonderful PTI rain stones to finish it off.

MIM # 200: Layering Cover Plate die Cuts

Sadly I do not have many cover plates, but I wanted to see if this Deco cover Plate would work, I had to be selective about layering my pieces, but I do like it!
I had "With all my Heart" stamp out on my desk, so decided to use the flower from that set.
I even layered the Wet Paint "enjoy" die cut , adding some of those wonderful rainstones and I called it good!
If you want to play along go to
Nichole's blog and watch the video by Dawn!

Have a great week!
Heart Hugs.
