Muse # 19

Here is the Muse card for this week...what I really liked about it was the stamp set...one which I have only used a few times...so perfect opportunity to use it again. I liked how she framed the sentiment, so I did likewise by putting the wreath in the four corners.  I liked her one layer card, but decided to add some interest by stamping it on some pattern paper.  Would you like to play along?  Go HERE to link up to this weeks Muse card...join in the fun, then don't forget to vote for your top three favorites!

Freshly Made Sketches # 87

I'm back from a wonderful trip to Disneyland!  I missed the stamping and challenges, so it feels good to be inky again!! I am starting off with the new sketch from Freshly Made Sketches.  I brought my cards to bible study today and sold quite a few, so I need to play catch up.  I think a lot of the ladies liked the cards with bible verses on them and also sympathy cards were a big request...
I don't think it is showing up so well, but I did use the linen impression plate on the face of the card to give it some texture.  I stamped onto pattern paper the sentiment...then I pulled from my stash some butterflies and added some pearl blings to the center of them.

Make It Monday # 117 ~ Paper Piecing and Cas-UAL Friday # 101

Melissa Phillips demonstrated her technique of paper piecing...her favorite technique of all time...So I tried my hand at it and if you would like to do so go HERE to Nicholes blog and watch the video and get inspired!
I paper pieced a lot of purple shades of pattern paper.  I stamped the 'violet' on all the colors of paper and then hand cut out the petals and glued them down.  I adhered the violet with dots from HERE  (Deanna Dean's blog Kloset Kreations) to a cardstock that I also cut out (haven't ordered the die for this set yet!).

I am going to enter this in the Cas-UAL Friday's Challenge also which is stamping on Designer Paper...you can access it HERE .

The stamps used are all from Year of Flowers:  Violet
The paper is all Papertrey
The card is fine linen

Freshly Made Sketches # 86 and Color Throwdown

This card has all the colors for the Color Throwdown Challenge which you can access HERE.  And also for the Freshly Made Sketches which can be accessed HERE .

paper: white, blueberry sky, summer sunrise, pure poppy pattern paper

ColourQ Challenge # 189

There is a little story behind this "Joy" card...last Saturday I was at a Mother's Day luncheon at my church...the two hosts of the event talked about 'serving with love' and when you serve with love you are filled with joy and you spread that joy to others.  They then each held up a jar of JOY liquid detergent and told us they were passing the "Joy" to a random lady in the room, and throughout the luncheon, that person could then pass it on to someone else!  And the other thing they mentioned about the word "JOY" is that it could be an acronym for Jesus Over You!  Do you love it?  The Joy certainly comes from the love of Our Lord, and He would definitely want us to pass that love or joy on...so I made this card to give to the two hostesses!  They are two very special ladies!  The inspiration from this card came from Betsy Veldman HERE .  Now I really liked how she did her card, but when I tried it, it just didn't look quite right to me, so I just stamped the same joy flower all over the page...I did emboss the die though onto various parts of the card.

This is going to the ColourQ Challenge which you can access HERE .

Muse Challenge # 17

Another great challenge and the muse card is from Therese Calvird, you can go HERE to check out the rules and link up your card...!
So I think you can guess what I am pulling from this card!  Ha ha...I loved her stacked elephants and all of them cut out from different pattern paper!  I also loved how she has the pattern paper down both sides of the main focus...So I stamped the cute little cuddly bear from PTI's Baby Button Bits onto the three shades of pink bitty dot paper...sweet blush, hibiscus burst and raspberry fizz, then I fussy cut them out.  I attached them to the white paper with Dots from Deanna Deans blog...go check them out...!! I also used the Sew Simple around the white paper with memento angel pink ink.  The striped paper on each side is part of the raspberry fizz pattern paper pack.

Less is More...One Layer on Colored Paper!

Over at Less is MORE they are asking us to make a card using a colored card stock...something other than white or a neutral...so I pulled out my never before used "shimmer cardstock" from Papertrey, Ink and inked up a Hero Arts Butterfly with memento black ink.  Then I pulled out my not used much "LuminArte" and painted in the 'hearts' of the butterfly...talk about a lot of shimmer!  wow, it looks really fab in real life!  The sentiment is from PTI's Sending You!  I love the simplicity of this card and I love the shimmer paper!  Thanks for taking a look!

Another Sympathy card for the stash

The vase is cut with vellum paper and then I sponged on some Autumn rose ink.  The flowers are from a Hero Arts Quatros "real wildflowers" rubber stamp set that I have had for many years.  I hand drew the stems with a memento marker.  The sentiment is from PTI Beautiful Butterflies.  The card base is Sweet blush paper and the layer on top of the card was run through the cuttlebug with the swiss dot embossing folder.

Sweet Roses

This is just a random card made for my sympathy stash...I used the Sweet Roses from MFT,  I white embossed the outline and then colored in with my copics.

Retro Sketches # 62

You can go HERE to access the Retro Sketches blog for this sketch:

I was asked to bring some sympathy type cards to bible study for some friends, so I am making a few of them...thought I would use this sketch to make one.

Papertrey white paper
twinery orange twine
MFT Pretty Poppies stamp, sentiment from Beautiful Blessings PTI
black glossy accents

Case study ~ too late

Well, my computer wouldn't let me me download the picture I took, so I was too late to enter it into this challenge...oh well, at least I have a nice card that I really like.
I do love me some poppies!!  Especially the really BIG ones...they look like they are made out of tissue paper.!  The stamps are from My Favorite things...I added some black enamel accents to the center of the poppy.  I stamped the poppy on a full sheet, then used my paper trimmer to cut a straight line, then hand cut around the leaf and flower...
this was the card we were to CASE...another great one by Maile...

Less is More # 9

The great thing about challenges like LESS is MORE is you don't have the urge to fill up every white space with more "things" be it bling, pattern paper or stamping more of something...it is all about keeping it really clean.
Here is the sketch for this week's challenge:

I die cut a netabilities die and used the negative part of the die to mask off the shape and sponge on some yellow color for the background, then I stamped my flower and colored it in.
Paper:  PTI white
ink:  harvest gold, memento markers blues and greens, staz-on
vellum, gems
stamps:  Year of Flower Collection (PTI)

Dynamic Duos # 50, Freshly Made Skteches and CASology: Care

Wow, can you believe I am going to try three challenges with one card?  I love it when it comes together like this!!
First up is Dynamic Duos  with the colors berry sorbet and angel pink, the sketch is from Freshly Made Sketches, and finally I am including this in the CASology: CARE Challenge.  Phew, I think that is it...

I took creative license with the sketch and just added a ribbon for the banner look.  I first stamped my sentiment and ribbon, then I added the hand drawn lines above and below.  After that I masked it off and starting stamping with an assortment of flowers in the colors for dynamic duos challenge.  I placed it all on a berry sorbet card.

Dynamic Duos # 50 pairs up with CASology: care

HERE is the link for Dynamic Duos, go check out the DT and their cool projects.  HERE at CASology it is all about "care"... care for you; I am here for you...you get the idea...

I combined the two and used a sentiment from Verve.

Paper:  Papertrey white, sweet blush pp
ink:  berry sorbet, memento angel pink, fine linen
stamps:  Happiness in Bloom, Verve

And I want to share with you that my daughter Dina had her PET scan and it came back NEGATIVE!!  NO sign of cancer anywhere!!  We put our trust and care in His hands, and HE answered our prayersWe are all on cloud nine, my daughter is just beaming...all the time!  And she is hatless/scarfless!!  Here is a pic of her and her 9 year old daughter who also shaved her head last October:
Thank you to the many many blogging friends ~ around the world ~  especially in the Netherlands who have continued to pray for her!
