One seed can start a garden, one candle can light a room, one step can begin a journey, one conversation can start a friendship, one smile from a handmade card can lift one's SPIRIT!

A Grandma Photo Book

My inspiration for this Photo Book is from Heather Nichols here she used the Sweet Baby stamp set and the dies ...My friend Mary has been waiting for years for a grandbaby and she will finally have her wish in March!  There is a baby shower and I thought I should give Mary a little something too...so I followed Heather's pictures and made a booklet for Mary to put pictures of her new little grandbaby...I used glassine bags that I cut off and stitched along the bottom...It will be big enough for a wallet size picture or even a 3 x 3 picture.  I am thinking of something for the mom like a One Year Photo Frame...each month for a year she gets a picture of her baby and then puts a picture in the frame...(and of course she gives her mom one of the wallets to put into her photo 'brag' book!  My daughters have that and it is so fun to see how the baby changes from newborn to a year...so here are some pictures of the cover of the book and the inside...
Front cover
Inside cover...important information!!

A sample of the pages...this is the 5th month and on the opposite side of each page for the picture I added a little notebook for any notes that Mary will want to write...you know, first smile, first tooth, that sort of thing!

Make It Monday #46 - any die into a folded tag

I pulled out Train Tracks and made a cute tag...then I decided I best just make a cover for a bag to put the potential gift into...I do have two younger grandsons, so I think this little train gift bag will be heartily accepted.

You know, my train is suppose to be red...what is with the color of the photograph?  I used water color pencils...and the other thing is I die cut the clouds with some stick - it -notes and stamped the Happy birthday sentiment inside the clouds...but, boo hoo, I am missing a cloud die...how could that happen???  You know I will now be scouring the "studio" to find that little thing!

Make It Monday #46 - any die into a folded tag

I used the Damask Snowflake die with Aqua Mist paper...I then used a Neenah paper folded in half for the tag.  I adhered the aqua mist onto the face of the tag...stamped to and from and I love it!  I had made one of those rosettes by cutting a strip of paper as long as I could, then I added a strip of silver foil and scored it...added that onto a detail doily and a button on top and I think this is pretty darn cute!

Make It Monday #45 Coloring Embossed Images with Copics #4

After loading up my last card, I sat at my desk thinking and all of a sudden the With Sympathy stamp set popped into my head as being a great one for this technique...so here it is....and I think this is my favorite one of all...
The sentiment is from Think Big # 3 and it sure looks great just embossed and left with the white embossing powder.  I wish you could see the green better as I used a yellow green for everything, but then used the nile green for the stem for the leaves...it looks really good in real life

Make It Monday #45 Coloring Embossed Images with Copics Card # 3

I tried another card coloring embossed images with copics...I used the Flutter by Friends and I made my own dp using some small flowers from Beautiful Blooms.

Make It Monday #45 Coloring Embossed Images with Copics # 2 Card

Okay, had to try it again, this time I used Enchanted Evening for my background paper and I selected a different flower from the Wildflower Garden stamp set...still really like how this colors on top of the embossed powder.
If you want to see the video of Lisa, go here and check it out...now for my second card:

Thanks for taking a look!

Make It Monday #45 Coloring Embossed Images with Copics

Well, this was an interesting and fun new technique...who would have thought to color on top of a heat embossed image?  But that is exactly what Lisa Johnson demonstrated here, if you want to check it out.

I pulled out a stamp set that I had yet inked up...Wildflower Garden...and Lisa is right, when you stamp the image on a darker color, like black or a dark blue, the images just pop once you color with copics.  so here is the first card I did with a stamp from the Wildflower Garden set:
I added some bling...couldn't resist, but I love how the leaves look...I used two different greens and they look so cool with a touch of the white embossed showing through, almost "frosted"...

Freshly Made Sketches # 14

Another card for Freshly Made Sketches and even though I have sent out all my Christmas cards, I just can't seem to stop making those cards...so maybe I am ahead of the game for next year!!  Check out the site, there are some great cards for this sketch...and the designers have wonderful inspiration cards.
First I colored my "bricks" with copics, using about 4 different colors, then using the blender pen I drew in the mortar lines for the bricks.  I cut a piece of coaster board and embossed it with a wood grain, then I dabbed on some pearl Dabber acrylic paint to give a nice shine for the mantle...the paper is from Basic Grey/Nordic Holiday.

Freshly Made Sketches...

I wasn't sure I was going to be able to make this one, but I finished a project I was working on, so I thought while I had some stamps out, I would put this together, you can find the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.
Here is my card for this sketch:
It is pretty simple, not any bling or froo froo, but I kind of like the simplicity of it....wish I had a stamp that said:  the Reason for the Season...or something similar...I don't but I do like "O Holy Night"...for indeed it is...

Edited to tell a story:  After posting this, I showed my husband the card...he looked at it and said the "horse" is half off the page...then he wasn't sure what the second picture was...so I told him "a little lambikins"!  He then went to the third stamped image and couldn't figure it out, I asked him to read the sentiment...still didn't click, he thought it was a lobster or an ant...what can I say??

Project Candles

I made 50 of these candles...and there are about 8 different colors and embellishments.  They were fun to make and use dies and stamps in different ways.  The second candle was inspired by an MIM from PTI using sentiments for the background, but stamping off the paper first so that the words are softer and more subtle.  The top candle was definitely more time consuming as I had to die cut the folded rosette and then attach it...both to the strip and also to have a button on top.  These are not quite done yet as a medal needs to be placed with the ribbon/ twine.....then they will be given out at a luncheon for the ladies in my Women's Bible Study.  I think they will like this little gift...
