One seed can start a garden, one candle can light a room, one step can begin a journey, one conversation can start a friendship, one smile from a handmade card can lift one's SPIRIT!

Another One for the PTI Blog Hop and Make It Monday

Please forgive the little 'blooper' in the bottom left corner, this was the third time for making this card...smudged the other two, and this one my finger moved at the last minute, but I am under the gun to get this posted in 6 minutes...so I used the Men of Life stamps...and Dad from that same stamp set...and I also tried Nichole's Make it Monday technique...here it is...

PTI April Blog Hop

The Blog Hop this month is to make a male type of card...birthday, father's day...whatever...just on the order of something male...meaning not too much bling or girlie bows and pink things...so I saw a "Weathered Wood Background" technique on Stamp TV and thought this would be perfect for a male card.  I used Lemon Tart paper and scored it with my score-pal every one half inch, then using two different colors of brown ink, I rub the ink over the whole sheet with the ink pad...gave it a very nice weathered kind of look...then I just added a tree and a sentiment...okay, I did add a bow, but I think that is okay...I truly think my brothers or father would not be offended to having a bow on their card.  I couldn't resist that "Little Bitty Bird" sitting on a branch.

Celebrate today!

One can never have too many birthday cards...especially when daughter's need a card...take from the stash, that is what it is there for!
I used Fancy Flourishes (love...), ran it through the PTI linen embossing sheet, I used tissue paper, die cut with the Beautiful Blooms Die, stamped the dots from the 2009 Anniversary set.. .used maybe 6 layers of tissue, another hibiscus burst die cut flower that I rolled around in my fingers until I was able to separate the layers of the paper, then added a pink button to the center.  Finished off the card with a Tiny Tag.
Each day we are able to wake and greet the sun or the clouds (mostly clouds here in Oregon) is a day to celebrate life...Attitude is Everything...be thankful!

Sending You a Happy Hello

I am sending each of you a very Happy Hello...!!  hello to spring, hello to new flowers, hello to the singing birds, hello to the deer coming into the yard, hello to SUN!  We thank you God for this sun...we will take it whenever YOU want to give it...we appreciate it and relish the warmth it gives us.

Make it Monday at PTI

Make It Monday #11: Embossing with Dies

Building on last week's message concerning the multi-uses of dies, Heather is bringing us another useful tip today. Have you ever thought of embossing with our dies? We've kept the technique in mind when designing them by leaving out the pin hole. You could even say PTI dies are made for embossing. Watch Heather's video to learn more.

so I tried my hand at it and decided I wanted to use the flip side of the paper so that the impression is raised rather than having the impression sunk into the paper...if you get my drift...well, here is the card...I stamped, I embossed, and I used the die cuts...after I made the impression, I added a little bit of snow white ink to the edges to help them pop out a bit more...it was different and kind of fun to play around with a "new" technique to these dies that PTI has available with their stamps...

I, of course, had to add some "bling" to these dress forms, and I stamped the upper part of the mannequin with Bitty Background Blocks..Thanks for checking in with me!

Make It Monday...on the PTI blog

Today on the PTI blog, Lisa Johnson showed how to use the 'negative' part of a die and then to sponge a color onto the card face using that negative piece, she then added some texture to the piece by stamping some text on it.  Well, I am so ready for spring here...although it looks and feels like January...I mean the high is 47 and there is hail several times during the days...and oh the black clouds...January, right?  Couldn't possibly be April 11...gosh Easter is less than two weeks away!  So I was thinking "spring" and flowers...so I used the Flower Fusion #1 die and added some grass using the medium scallop.  I also added some Background Basics:  Twinkle for each of the three flowers in their respective colors.
